Mall library CLOSED for remodeling beginning MONDAY, DECEMBER 24

THE MALL LIBRARY CONNECTION
You'll find a beautiful new library space at Westfield Vancouver shopping mall this Spring! Remodeling of the current Vancouver Mall Community Library will begin in late December to convert about half of the current space to The Mall Library Connection, which will open in March or April 2013.

Old year, new year
I had a lovely opportunity on Nov. 26 to visit with the good citizens of Stevenson at an afternoon reception organized by Friends of the Library. I'm looking forward to getting out to all our communities again in 2013, repeating the circuit I made during my first few weeks at FVRL this summer.
December marks the end of our budget year, and I'm happy to report that -- despite declining revenues -- we have worked out a no-frills plan for 2013 that keeps FVRL on solid financial footing, retains all existing services, and allows for some needed operational improvements. One of the initiatives I want to get started on later in the new year is a strategic plan for the district that includes your input -- more details on that in the coming months.

 New fvrl.org website to make its debut in the new year
You'll find a more user-friendly, streamlined, fresher-looking website at www.fvrl.org when you visit the library district's website starting in January. New features will include being able to search from the home page, graphical navigation cues, improved catalog searching, and an overall more intuitive structure. Take a sneak peek at a non-interactive image of the new home page. We think you'll like the real thing once it goes live.
