Public Services Assistant—Stevenson Community Library

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries is seeking qualified applicants for Public Services Assistant (PSA) positions at Stevenson Community Library. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have a passion for working with the public and want to make a positive impact in their communities. The primary responsibilities of a Public Services Assistant are assisting with patrons and books in the library branches. A typical day could include these tasks:

  • Assisting patrons on the phone and in person with questions regarding library services and technology
  • Creating or updating patron accounts
  • Shelving materials
  • Checking materials in and out

The ideal candidate will be flexible and have strong customer service skills and great attention to detail. This position frequently requires these physical abilities:

  • Lift up to 35 pounds
  • Push and pull book carts and book return bins on wheels
  • Bend, kneel, and reach to shelve books
  • Stand for extended periods of time

The compensation for this position begins at $13.72 per hour with an excellent benefits package including health insurance, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment benefits; short term and long term disability benefits; Washington State PERS retirement; and paid time off.
