Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (FVRL) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Services Assistant (PSA) throughout the district. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have a passion for working with the public and want to make a positive impact in their communities. The primary responsibilities of a Public Services Assistant are assisting with patrons and books in the library branches. A typical day could include assisting patrons on the phone and in person with questions regarding library services and technology, creating or updating patron accounts, shelving materials and checking materials in and out.
At this time, we are working to identify individuals who are qualified for future opportunities. This recruitment process will include an inperson PSA Orientation and Assessment session as well as interviews. Those who pass both stages of this process may be contacted when PSA openings are available. Specific details regarding branches and schedules are unknown at this time. We anticipate hiring up to 7 PSAs over the next 6 months.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, have strong customer service skills and great attention to detail. This position requires the physical ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds; push and pull book carts and book drop bins on wheels; bend, kneel and reach to shelve books and stand for extended periods of time. The compensation for this position begins at $13.72 per hour with an excellent benefits package including health insurance benefits, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, short term and long term disability benefits, Washington State PERS retirement and paid time off.

Individuals who pass the assessment and interviews will become part of a pool of eligible candidates for future PSA openings. Hiring decisions will be made as vacancies occur. We anticipate hiring as many as 7 PSAs over the next 6 months.
