Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (FVRL) is seeking an experienced librarian with a passion for working with teens ages 12–18. We have an opening for a full-time Senior Public Services Librarian at our Vancouver Community Library. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing oversight of the branch’s services for teens; managing Teen Central, the branch’s teen room; providing library services to all patrons, and supervising library staff.
This senior librarian will use their teen expertise and experiences to serve as a resource for the branch, district and community. They will work to develop and implement teen programs for Vancouver Community Library, build and sustain relationships with community partners relevant to teen services, and collaborate with other librarians throughout FVRL. In addition, the librarian in this position will provide library services to patrons of all ages, including assisting with reference and reader’s advisory questions, locating materials and using technology. This position supervises approximately 4–5 Senior Library Assistants who provide support throughout the branch (not limited to teen services). This librarian will direct and assign work to staff, provide guidance and direction regarding application of policies and procedures, and conduct quarterly performance appraisals.
To be considered, applicants must have these qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or the ability to obtain a Washington State Librarian certification upon hire
- 3–5 years of related work experience
- 1–3 years of experience supervising paid staff

The compensation for this position begins at $48,090 annually with an excellent benefits package including health insurance benefits, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, short term and long term disability benefits, Washington State PERS retirement and paid time off.
