FVRLibraries participates in pilot to test new app

FVRLibraries staff are working with our Catalog provider and other libraries around the globe to test a new library app for release later this spring. Select staff are installing the test app on both Android and iOS devices. As of February 8, 2024, segments available for testing include: logging in via barcode/pin combo or biometrics, searching the catalog, and reviewing the display of results and detail pages.

Representatives of FVRlibraries have been working with the developers at SirsiDynix, our catalog provider, since mid-2023 as development got underway for a new app that is built in the native languages of Android and iOS. The developers' goal is to provide an experience very familiar to users of both platforms. Planned features for users include the ability to search, place holds, manage accounts, find a nearby library, see important news about the library, and more. The development has been fast-paced, increasing dramatically when our previous app unexpectedly became unusable in November.
