".odm" is OverDrive's MP3 format (it stands for "OverDrive Media.") The Digital Rights Management (DRM) included with the audiobook file scrambles the audio to help protect copyright, so you will need OverDrive's software to unscramble it.
Your options for listening to eAudiobooks through OverDrive are:
- Use the Libby app on a iOS or Android device.
- Use the OverDrive app.
- Listen online in a browser window with OverDrive Listen.
- Transfer to an iPod using OverDrive for Mac. Note: Your options if you have a Mac depend on which operating system your computer is running.
- Transfer to an MP3 player using OverDrive for Windows desktop app.
Please note: the OverDrive app was discontinued on May 1, 2023. As Amazon has not yet accepted the Libby app to the Amazon Appstore, the OverDrive app will remain available for Kindle Fire users to download and access until further notice. Users with Kindle Fire devices can also sideload Libby manually following these steps.
